Personal Identification Document Translations

Personal Identification Document Translation

We translate birth certificates, passports/ID cards, and other personal identification documents for situations such as crossing international borders or submitting documents to government institutions. Death certificates are also frequently translated to handle formalities related to a deceased person.

Regulations in Latvia

The Republic of Latvia specifies the procedure for certifying translations of documents in the official language:

  • Translations must be certified unless a notarised translation is required by law;
  • Translations of passports, service IDs, parliamentary cards, and other specific documents cannot be certified;
  • Documents with pencil markings, unnumbered or stitched pages, corrections, deletions, or strikethroughs cannot be certified;
  • Documents authored by a private individual may be submitted without stitching;
  • Government and municipal authorities accept only the original document or a notarised copy;
  • For certification, the translator adds a note in the official language on the last page.
