Translation Price Determination by LK Translation

How Translation Prices Are Determined

Before starting any translation project, it is important for clients to understand the overall cost. Translation prices are usually determined based on the source text volume, and in rare cases, based on the target text volume (the translated text). Target text measurements are used when the source text is of very poor quality or handwritten, making it impossible to determine the source text volume. In all other cases, pricing is based on the source text.

Principles of Translation Pricing

When a client submits a document in Word, Excel, or PDF format, the text is analyzed, and the total word count is determined. In Word documents, the word count can be seen immediately in the lower-left corner of the document.

Example of Price Calculation

A client wishes to translate a text from English to Latvian containing 363 words.

Text volume for translation pricing

Our price for English to Latvian translations is €7.00 + VAT (per 250 words).

Calculation Example:

  1. Determine the price per word: 7.00 / 250 = 0.028 EUR + VAT
  2. Calculate the total translation cost by multiplying the word count by the price per word: 363 x 0.028 = 10.16 EUR + VAT
