AI Post-editing

Machine translation can be a useful starting point, particularly for large volumes of content or projects where turnaround time is important. However, machine-generated translations require professional review to ensure that the meaning and information in the source text are accurately conveyed.

Our linguists review and correct machine-translated content with particular attention to meaning, terminology, grammar, consistency and context. The purpose is to ensure that the translated text accurately reflects the source and meets the requirements of its intended use.

When is AI post-editing suitable?

AI post-editing can be an effective approach for large volumes of content, regularly updated materials and projects where machine translation is used as an initial translation step. It can also be considered when you already have machine-translated content that requires professional review before publication or further use.

Large volumes Machine translation can provide a practical starting point when substantial amounts of content need to be processed.
Regular updates Post-editing can be suitable for content that is frequently updated or expanded over time.
Existing machine translation We can review and correct machine-translated content that has already been prepared.
Time-sensitive projects Where the project allows machine translation to be used as a first step, post-editing can support an efficient workflow for larger volumes.

Project suitability is assessed before work begins

AI post-editing is not suitable for every type of machine-translated content. Before accepting a project, we assess the material, its volume and structure, as well as the availability of the source text, to determine whether professional post-editing is appropriate.

The process works best when the original source text and the corresponding AI-generated translation are both available. This allows our linguists to compare the translation with the source and identify inaccuracies, omissions, inappropriate terminology and other issues.

Content provided only through a website, individual text fields or other formats where the source and translated text cannot be reliably compared may not be suitable for this type of service. We take on projects where an appropriate review process can be established and where we can meet our quality requirements.

What do we check?

  • Meaning and accuracy — whether the translation accurately conveys the information and meaning of the source text;
  • Terminology — whether terms are appropriate for the relevant subject area and consistent throughout the content;
  • Grammar and punctuation — grammatical accuracy, sentence structure and punctuation;
  • Consistency — consistent use of terminology, wording and other recurring elements;
  • Context — whether the translation is appropriate in the context of the source and its intended use.

Professional review remains essential

Machine translation can provide speed and scale, but it does not replace professional linguistic review. The accuracy of a translation depends on context, terminology, subject matter and the purpose for which the content will be used.

Our role is to compare the machine-generated translation with the source text and correct inaccuracies, inappropriate terminology, omissions and other issues that affect the accuracy of the translated content.
